BLUE KNIGHTS TX XX CHAPS MY ASS RIDE 11-19-10

Friday, 11-19-10, the Blue Knights TX XX had a chapter run up to Oklahoma to eat at Meers, go to Mount Scott and then to Chaps My Ass, a favorite motorcycle apparel & accessory shop to those riders in the North Texas-Southern Oklahoma area. Scroll down and join us on this ride and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

Our staging point was I-44 & Missile Rd at the El Mejicano Restaurant parking lot. As I head up over the overpass, I get this picture of downtown Wichita Falls Texas

I get to the staging area and there are already some folks there. Being a little chilly out, I wasn't sure if anyone else was going to go.

Another pic of the bikes and the the guys talking in the background

KSU time arrived and we headed out Northbound on I-44. Here is Curtis, the Blue Knights TX XX Chaplain, on I-44

Buddy was next in line. He is a member of the Blue Knights TX XX

Next in line was Flip. He works in the local E.R. and came out to ride with us today.

This is Ron and he is a member of the Blue Knights TX XX

This is Jay. Jay is a long time friend, former room mate, former co-worker and a member of the Blue Knights TX XX

No one wanted to lead this ride, so I assumed the Road Captain slot. I am also the President of the Blue Knights TX XX. The view behind me as we head up I-44 to Oklahoma

This is the fabled RED RIVER that separates Texas from Oklahoma at this point. The river is down. After major rains, the river can be as high as to the bottom of the overpass,

We avoid the I-44 toll gate by going around the toll road. Here we head North on US287/277. We are now in Oklahoma

We get onto OK49 and head to Meers Oklahoma and the Meers Restaurant for lunch. After lunch, we would ride up to the top of Mount Scott, which can be seen coming into view ahead

We get to the Meers Restaurant. Here is Buddy inside

Here is Jay inside Meers.

Getting ready to leave Meers to make the run to the top of Mount Scott, located in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, just North of Fort Sill/Lawton Oklahoma

Curtis is getting ready to fire up his Harley as Flip looks on.

As we head out across the Wildlife Refuge, the view behind me is Curtis, Flip, Buddy, Ron and Jay is Tail gunner

As we start up Mount Scott, this is the view of the guys behind me

We get to the top of Mount Scott and we park the bikes

Getting ready to head back down Mount Scott. Left to right: Curtis, Flip, Buddy, Ron and Jay

And we start back down.

Still heading down Mount Scott

The R.V in front of us. For more on Mount Scott and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, see this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mount_scott_(oklahoma)

We are nearing the base of Mount Scott...

We will get to the base of Mount Scott and turn East on OK49 and head for Chaps My Ass, which is located in Medicine Park Oklahoma

As we head East, we put Mount Scott behind us.

Here we are headed NorthWest on East Lake Drive, which will take us straight to Chaps My Ass

We get to Chaps My Ass and park the bikes

Jay in front of Chaps My Ass

They added on a large room at Chaps, in order for them to put in a shop. They then moved a lot of motor clothes to the new section

Ron checks out some of the leather jackets. They have a wide range of leather goods, as well as t-shirts, luggage, helmets, gloves, sun glasses, goggles, gloves etc.

They were having a "Pink Ribbon Sale". All items that were sold that had a pink ribbon attached, then 10% of that sale would be given to breast cancer research.

above the shop area, they had this sign and the bike was lit up and had that glittery look to it. This picture does not do that sign justice..

Curtis in Chaps My Ass, Medicine Park, Oklahoma

Flip at Chaps My ass

The shop area. Behind the desk, between it and the door, is a motorcycle lift and that's where they work on the bikes..

Curtis stows his purchases as we get ready to head out..

Chaps My Ass, Medicine Park Oklahoma

and Yes, they do have handicapped parking. I actually saw two Goldwings, with Missouri handicapped m/c tags parked in a handicapped parking space at the Wal-Mart in Joplin Missouri, which struck me as funny. For more on Chaps My Ass, see this link: www.chapsmyass.com

On the way out of Medicine Park, I had to get a picture of this street sign. It says: One Hellava Dr. For more on Medicine Park Oklahoma, see this link: www.medicinepark.com

Ron and I had to gas up for the ride back to Texas, so we stopped at the Fina Station on OK49, prior to I-44. Here is Ron at the pumps.

After gassing up, we head East down OK49 to I-44, where we would turn South and head back to Texas.. The view behind me on OK49

the rear view mirror shot of the guys behind me

The last picture of today's ride is of the guys as we head South on US277/287 going around the I-44 toll gate at the Walters Oklahoma exit.
I enjoyed today's ride and riding with the other Blue Knights TX XX members and it was great having Flip with us. It was great meeting you Flip and you are welcome to ride with us anytime!
