PGR MISSION: KENNETH ELLIS, USN 9-14-10

Tuesday, 9-14-10, the North Texas PGR had a Mission down in Henrietta Texas for Kenneth Ellis, a US Navy Veteran of World War II. It was to be graveside services at the Veith Family Cemetery. Join us for this PGR Mission as we honor a true American Hero and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE


We met before sun up at the Shell Station at US287/Windthorst Rd. Here is one of our North Texas PGR Ride Captains, Tex.

Today we have attending: Smokey, Jody, Ted, Lance, Doug, Tex and Kirby (in the white shirt).




Kirby is Jody's husband. He won't be going with us today because he's got to work. But he did come and see us off.


Here is Jody talking to Smokey and Ted is talking to Lance. Both Ted and Lance are Vietnam Vets and both are Bronze Star recipients.

Saddled up and ready to go are Smokey, Ted and Lance. Jody would follow us down in her truck.

And as the sun breaks over the horizon, we head out Southbound on US 287

We get down to Henrietta Texas and turn off on New York Rd, which is dirt & gravel.




Lance and Jody follows us down the dirt & gravel road for about 2 miles.


We made it to the Cemetery which was marked by the Texas and U.S. Flag. We pulled in and parked in the field




This is the family cemetery. The Navy Honor Guard was there helping set up the flags.

I walk back to Tex's truck to get a flag. As I do I pass Jody's truck

The service was brief and after we had gathered up the flags and walked back to the bikes, we see these two hitch hiker bugs on Lance's trike.



We looked but didn't see any freeloaders on the other bikes.

We head North on US287 and plan on stopping in Henrietta at the DQ and getting an ice cream cone. That's Ted up front and Lance in the middle.

I pull up along side Lance and get his picture rolling down US287



We get to the DQ and park the bikes.
