PRAY FOR OUR FELLOW BIKER 9-5-10

Saturday night, 9-4-10, one of our local riders, friend, Vice President of the Green Knights Chapter 54 and PGR member, Larry Anderson, and his passenger, a 74 year old in law of his, Vella, were struck from behind by a hit & run drunk driver here in Wichita Falls Texas, while on his motorcycle on Iowa Park Road, West of City View Drive. I talked to Larry a couple of hours ago and he stated that the last thing he saw was the front of a Red Dodge pick-up truck in his rear view mirror. The truck struck the back of his motorcycle, knocking the bike 62 feet and throwing his passenger & him another 30 feet or so. The pick-up then fled the scene but was located a very short time later. The driver was drunk and had been smoking dope. He was promptly arrested. When his name is released, I SHALL post it.
Larry stated that after being hit and knocked off the bike, he attempted to get up and go check on his passenger. He attempted to stand up, but was unable to due to a broken lower right leg, cuts, bruises and road rash. He crawled to his passenger, and he said he thought she was deceased. When he got to her, she was conscious, and she told him she was in pain. The ambulance got there and transported them to the hospital. Larry was treated here in Wichita Falls Texas at the URHCS 11th Street Campus and eventually released. His passenger was in pretty bad shape and was care flighted by helicopter to Dallas Texas for treatment.
Larry stated she underwent a 5 hour surgery for a crushing fracture injury to her right leg. He said the surgery was successful but they were waiting to see if the skin grafts were accepted by her body and they were keeping close watch for infection. If those two things go well, then she more than likely will get to keep her leg.
We are asking all of you viewers, and the family is asking for all of you to pray for the family, especially Larry and Vella, his passenger. Also keep Larry's wife, Genevieve, in your prayers. She just had spinal surgery last week and is recovering from that, and for Kat, their daughter, who is a college student and is having to deal with this.

I do not have a picture of Vella, Larry's passenger, but this is a picture I took last week of Genevieve, Larry and Kat at a PGR mission for PFC Alexis Maldonado who was KIA in Afghanistan. Larry and his family are active in the PGR and are a military family. He is retired.
So, please pray for the family and for the healing of both Larry & Vella and Genevieve. I will keep you all advised & updated on their recovery.
Some things, you just can't prevent or guard against, but PLEASE be aware of your surroundings at all times when out on your bike. We are very thankful that GOD spared Larry and Vella and we thank all of you for praying for them. GOD still is in the healing and miracle working business.
Until next post, ya'll be careful out there, keep the rubber on the road, keep your head on a swivel, and most importantly of all...................................RIDE SAFE!!! ..................................JOHN
